Official safe injection sites approved by majority of Torontonians
In the seventh wave of the Campaign Research Poll, an online public opinion survey conducted among a sample of 523 Toronto voters, the majority (51%) approve of the city council sanctioned safe injection sites opening in Toronto, while one third disapprove (32%), and close to one fifth have no opinion (17%). Approving of the safe injection site plan is characteristic of the youngest (60%) and the oldest (59%), females (57%) rather than males (44%), in North York (56%), those in mid income groups ($60K to $80K - 57%), and among provincial Liberals (64%) and New Democrats (66%).

‘POP-UP’ SAFE INJECTION SITE NOT FAVOURED
The plurality are opposed to the ‘pop-up’ safe injection site which operated in Moss Park recently (43%), while just a third approve (35%). More than one fifth don’t have an opinion (22%). Approval of this impromptu effort is common to boomers (55 to 64 - 41%), females (39%) rather than males (32%), in Toronto/East York (40%), among mid income groups ($60K to $80K - 43%) and among provincial Liberals (46%) and New Democrats (45%).

METHODOLOGY
This online poll was conducted between September 8 and 13, 2017 among a panel of 523 Toronto voters. A probability sample of this size would have a margin of error of plus or minus 4.3%, 19 out of 20 times.
