In the fifth wave of the Campaign Research Poll - a nationwide online omnibus opinion survey conducted among 2767 Canadian voters - as many as two thirds of the electorate don’t have an opinion on the NDP leadership race or its five declared contestants (68%). Among the small group who had an opinion, Jagmeet Singh, the charismatic MPP from Ontario, was the favorite (7%). He is followed by Charlie Angus (5%) and three other contestants, Peter Julian (4%), Niki Ashton (3%) and Guy Caron (3%).

Among the survey respondents who would vote NDP if a federal election were held tomorrow, Charlie Angus had a slim lead (8%) over Singh (6%), and other candidates. (Julian - 6%, Ashton - 5%, Caron - 4%).

Among those who claim to hold federal NDP memberships (3%), Angus’ lead was more prominent (19%). Singh placed second (16%), and was closely followed by the other candidates (Julian -10%, Ashton - 9%, Guy Caron - 10%).

“It appears Jagmeet Singh has made an impression on the general public, but Charlie Angus is still the favoured candidate among those who might be more likely to elect a new leader” said Eli Yufest,
