Solid majority approves of John Tory

In the benchmark Toronto-wide wave of the Campaign Research Poll, a randomly sampled, representative telephone survey of national, provincial and municipal issues, Toronto Mayor John Tory has the approval of a solid majority of the city’s residents (56%), and fewer than one quarter disapprove of the job he’s doing (23%). One fifth don’t offer an opinion (21%). His net favourable score (approve minus disapprove) is therefore a healthy and positive +33. Approval of the Mayor’s performance is especially high among males (59%) as opposed to females (51%), among the oldest (65+ - 72%), the wealthiest (72%) and among provincial Liberals (67%). Union members are more likely to disapprove of the mayor than others (31%).

“The mayor is popular among those who vote; men, the elderly and the wealthy. This is the kind of coalition which can deliver a solid result on election day,” said Eli Yufest, CEO of Campaign Research. Eli can be reached at eyufest@campaignresearch.ca or at (416) 618 6562
