One half would vote for John Tory if mayoral election held tomorrow Doug Ford more than 20 points be

In the third wave of the Campaign Research Poll, an online omnibus opinion survey conducted among 409 Toronto voters, one half would vote for John Tory if the mayoral election were held tomorrow (50%), compared to just fewer than 3 in 10 for Doug Ford if he were to run (29%). Few opt for freshman councillor, Joe Cressy (6%). The Tory vote is characteristic of the youngest and oldest (62% each), federal Liberals (65%), provincial Liberals (60%) and those in mid-income groups ($60K to $80K - 61%). The Ford vote is common to mid-age groups (35 to 54 - 37%), federal Conservatives (50%), provincial PCs (44%) and those in lower income groups ($20K to $40K - 36%).

One half approve of John Tory, one third of Doug Ford, few know Joe Cressy John Tory has the approval of one half the city’s voters (49%), and his net favourability (approve minus disapprove) is a healthy +19. Doug Ford has the approval of one third of the city’s voters (34%) and his net favourability is a negative -9. Very few know Joe Cressy well enough to have an opinion (69%), but his approvals (14%) are on par with his disapprovals (17%) giving him a net score of a relatively neutral -3.

This online poll was conducted between April 3 and 11, 2017, among a sample of 409 Toronto voters. A probability sample of this size would have a margin of error of plus or minus 5%, 19 times out of 20.
